Today we are exploring 'Portobello Market' which held on Portobello Road near Notting Hill Gate, London. The area of Portobello was originally a farm, which was named after Puerto Bello in the Caribbean in memory of Admiral Vernon who captured the town in 1739.

Portobello Market is internationally famous for selling Antiques, Collectibles, and ornaments. Not only that Portobello Market become quite fashion hub recently and you can find vintage fashion, second-hand clothes, young designers or well known, up-market Brands. This Market has a whole lot for foodies as well. Back in the time, it was well known for fruits and vegetable market for generations. Now, there are all that and much more specialist food vendors and the best international street food available to eat. Antiques, Fashion, and the Foods are what most people come to the market for.

Little known fact:
All the street stalls are set up on every Saturdays. If you want the street market experience, then this is the best day to come.
There are No street stalls on a Sunday and other weekdays.
However, other shops are all open but the 'market' itself is only for the Saturday.
In more recent history, the film 'Notting Hill' has made an alternative history in a way, people want to visit the market because it was the location of a film they have seen. Another movie called- Paddington's original story of Paddington Bear from the book was set around the Notting Hill and Portobello Road area as well.

How to get here in local transportation?
For most people, Notting Hill Gate (Central, Circle, District lines) is the most convenient tube station to use. Your other option is Ladbroke Grove (Hammersmith and City line) or simply take London Black Cab and ask your Black Cab driver to drop you off accordingly. In either case, you cannot get lost. The market is very well signposted or just follow the crowd.
